Morning Prayer Day 8

God of the Lowly,

You deliver the needy when they call.

You are the helper for those who walk this life feeling alone.

You rescue the poor from their streets.

You give strength and compassion to the weak.

You deliver the oppressed from hate and violence.

These are your children. Those who are lowly, cast out, forgotten, shamed.

There are moments when we count ourselves among the lowly.

There are moments when we create a position of lowliness for another.

There are moments when we don’t even see our neighbors at all.

Wake us to see our neighbors the way you see them God, as beloved children.

Wake us to see ourselves as you see us, as your beloved child.

Wake us God.

In the name of the one who raised himself on the cross for each of the lowly.

Amen
