Morning Prayer 2022 Day 67
Unfair God,
We like it when things feel fair, or when we get the better side of the stick. We have deep-seated desires to see those who have wronged us get what they deserve. We ask for justice, but often we mean vengeance. We ask for retribution, but often we mean revenge.
During this time of life, we are reminded just how unfair you really are God.
We make this journey to the cross as a way of repentance - of turning back toward you - because again and again, we dismiss you, turn away from you, reject you, and forget about you.
But you are an unfair God.
You chose us, claimed us, and gave us your never-ending love - anyway.
You don’t seek retribution or revenge. Instead, you pour out more love so that we might dwell more deeply in your grace. Thank you for this immeasurable and unfair gift.
Amen
