Morning Prayer 2022 Day 61

Knowing God,

When I read scripture texts like the one for today, it feels as though no matter what I do, I won’t get my faith right. My practice of praying, giving, or fasting will fall short in some way.

Lord, as I knowingly walk into this day, I am reminded of the reality that I will fall short, but that doesn’t mean that I am lost and that my practice is insignificant.

Help me read these words from today and recognize the gift inside them - that you actively and unceasingly seek me out to be in relationship with me - genuine, caring, healing, nurturing, and loving relationship with me - not superficial or hollow show.

You reach into my life with honesty and transparency - with your whole self.

You reach into my life with love and grace - with your whole self.

You mark me with the cross of Christ - forever.

I know that I am from dust, and that to dust I shall return, but I also know that you are with me now, as the dust blows through life, fleeting and heavy.

Lord, help me experience your great wholeness and respond to it with openness and gratitude.

Amen
