Morning Prayer Day 5
God of Gathering,
As a people, we are often scattered.
Scattered from each other as communities, as families, and even scattered from ourselves.
We struggle with competing messages that say, love yourself, but use this product to make yourself better because you aren’t really perfect.
Especially in this new year, we find ourselves in any number of emotional places on the spectrum between loving yourself and fixing yourself.
This reality scatters us.
It scatters our hearts and our minds. It keeps us from being with others or sitting alone with ourselves.
But Lord, you lead us back - not to ourselves, but to you.
You lead us back in the midst of our weeping. You lead us with consolation.
When life hurts, when we feel broken, you are always leading us back, and on this day, for that knowledge, I give you thanks.
Amen
