Morning Prayer Day 24

Forever God,

The Psalmist tells us this day that you exist forever.

Forever.

In the waters of baptism, you promise us that we are claimed as your beloved child forever.

Forever.

Lord, how can we comprehend forever?

How can we ever understand the vastness of something that never ends when so much in our world ends.

Popsicles end.

Songs end.

Laughter ends.

Weeping ends.

Childhood ends.

Jobs end.

Summer ends.

Winter ends.

Marriages end.

Relationships end.

Lives end.

While all these things end, you do not, and while we know this in our heads, it is hard to feel it in our hearts.

Breath into us this day the understanding that you remain with us forever. You claim us as your own forever.

Help us hear the words you have written on our hearts. In the name of the one who was and is and is yet to come.

Amen
