Morning Prayer Day 14
Holy Comforter,
For many of us personally, but certainly, for those we know, our lamps are running low on oil. It feels as if the world has sucked up all the oil we had left and shining our light during this time is hard. As we enter the third year of the pandemic, we can tell ourselves we are called to be the light, but the truth is, for many of us, we don’t know how much light we have left.
Comforting God. Help us this day to speak comfort to ourselves. Help us to be gentle on our own hearts and minds, and the hearts and minds of others. Give us the wisdom to set a pace we can manage. Give us the courage to say we have done too much and rest. Give us the boundaries to protect our own well-being and that of others.
We are a culture of more - but that is not what we need right now. God, we need to find quietness in our hearts. We need to walk softly and fill up on calm. May your light warm our faces. May your light lift our spirit. May the gentleness of your light remind us that we can be gentle on ourselves.
Thank you, God, for hearing us this day.
Amen
