Morning Prayer 2022 Day 58

Dear Jesus,

What was it like? As you journeyed to the cross, knowing what was to come, you went up to the mountain to pray.

What was it like? Did you feel terror, frustration, resentment, fear, abandonment?

At that moment, you found a safe and calm place away from the crowds to pray and God sent you two pillars of strength - connections to God’s long story. God sent Elijah and Moses to stand with you, to give you support.

Jesus, it was such a powerful moment. I can see the light on your face. I can see, as Peter saw, the power of the moment, and his desire to build a dwelling there and stay. How could he not long to stay in that safe place, that Holy space.

As we move through life, I long for a safe space. As the world, again and again, proves to be riddled with events that cause fear, terror, frustration, resentment, and abandonment, Lord, you remain the pillar. You remain the light and strength. Your Holy Spirit remains with me.

Give me that feeling of being truly chosen by God. Give me the sense that you remain with me. Give me the Holy space in life, away from the crowds, a safe and calm place to pray and connect with you.

Amen
