Advent Art Prayer 3
Lamb of God,
You take away the sin of the world.
This doesn’t mean that life is perfect - but rather - that we aren’t alone in the imperfection.
We cannot earn this good gift from you, but you freely bestow it on each of us before we even know it is real.
Your grace is not dependent on our way, but on the love you first share with the world.
You make yourself known in our hearts that we might respond with generosity of spirit to others.
As the lights of Advent shine a little brighter each day,
may each twinkle be a reminder that you are the great lamb who came down as a child in a manger - for us.
May each cup of hot cocoa and each present and each party and dinner be a reminder that you bring us together.
You gift us with each other.
You weave us into family and help us grow in faith and love for ourselves and the world.
Remind us oh Lamb.
In the name of your Son, we pray.
Amen

For Deeper Listening
Think about someone in your life you haven’t seen in a while and write them a little note of gratitude during this Advent season. Reflect on how this person has helped shape who you are and give thanks for their role in your life.
Establish your Advent Practice.
Step 1: Set up a space in your home for your Advent readings. Make it comfortable. Add a candle. Perhaps next to your tree or at a table with a little festive placemat.
Step 2: Determine two times of the day when you might practice them so that if you miss the first one, you can lean into the second and not feel guilty.
Step 3: Each time you sit down to practice your Advent devotion, make a warm cup of something and begin with a couple of moments of silence and deep breathing. Close your eyes and breath in deeply the love of God for you. Ask the Spirit to join you. Then begin your readings.
Step 4: Have a little prayer journal nearby where you can list the things that stick with you or stand out to you during your devotion.
Step 5: Close your time with a couple of moments of silent deep breathing, thanking God for the love and grace that are freely given to you that claims you as God’s own.
